WHOOPS!

Sex education was virtually non-existent.  Sex was not discussed.  Parents made the book, Growing Up, available, and children relied on older siblings, National Georgraphic and art books for additional information.  Being caught doing "research" at the library was very embarrassing.

  1. You are right on Joelle, it was National Geographic! A friend of mine and I would sneak out of the Beaumont Symphony, cross the street to the library and thumb through the collection of NG! This was before Playboy! Cool art.

  2. It's hard to believe how different it was for you and your generation growing up. (No pun intended.)

The scene in your work is so fun and funny and concrete and abstract and I love it. The Radio Flyer, the ??? books and the contrasting pieces of art in the background all just tickle me.

Thank you so much for sharing these!

  3. I loved reading the comments about "Whoops!" It was the first collage I made, so the subject matter must have made a big impression. It's nice to learn that others remember the same, and also that persons of different generations can appreciate the collage.

When I post two new collages each week, I plan to comment on the comments. Thank you for blogging. Joelle
