The drive-in was a very popular attraction.  Families enjoyed an evening under the stars, while dating couples also attended.  One never knew who or what they might encounter, and sometimes it was more enjoyable to watch the patrons rather than the movies.

  1. The drive-in had special promotions where a fixed price was paid per car - teenagers would pile in their car like sardines, including packing the trunk. It was amazing how many people could fit in one car.

The popular Fifties song, "Wake up, Little Susie", is about a couple who fell asleep at the drive-in. They awakened at 3 AM, saying..."What will we tell your Ma? What'll we tell your Pa? What'll we tell your friends? They'll say 'oo la-la.'"
