DIVISION OF LABOR

There was a definite division of labor - the wife stayed at home, while the husband left to go to the office.   Even though he worked to support his family, sometimes there were distractions.  Society looked the other way when extramarital affairs were committed by a male, but not the female.  This remains somewhat true today.

  3. Angie, did you notice the tomatoes on the window sill? They are significant. I thought giving the collage this title - "The Husband Who Loved Tomatoes".

  4. I always loved Modigliani's portraits. But it is even more interesting that you chose his work to highlight gender differences in the division of labour etc? Modigliani didn't always behave well in relation to the women in his life.

  5. Art in America is a valuable source for my collages, since I, too, am interested in the history of art. I hope you'll find some of the other collages interesting also. Thank you for commenting.
