A weekly-ish blog sharing my series of collages about growing up in the South during the 1950s.

LOUISIANA POLITICS
A candidate for the Democratic Party was usually a shoo-in on local, state and national levels in the South. One exception to the rule was Eisenhower - people of all ages went around saying "I like Ike!"
Great collage, Joelle! I love the whole design. Yes, it's amazing how voting has changed in the South. Mostly Republican and conservative now. Is that where you grew up?
Yes, I grew up on the border between Texas and Louisiana - feel a kinship to both states. I agree that it is interesting how the political demographics have changed. Most of my Southern friends and relatives are Republicans now, but that surely wasn't true in the 50s.
Thank you, I enjoy reminiscing. Politics in Louisiana usually involved the colorful Long family - Huey, Earl and Russell - a political dynasty. When none of the Longs ran for office, they usually found someone to represent them.
I love this one!!! KIKI
