Two sisters, left alone by working parents during long summer days, played poker with three neighborhood boys in hopes of winning cash for bowling, a popular activity. When the necessary 25 cents was accumulated, off they would go, riding their bikes to the local bowling alley, leaving the boys to their game. |
And did the parents ever know?
ReplyDeleteI don't believe so, although those two sisters were very adventuresome.
ReplyDeleteMom signed us up for bowling league, when we were in Iowa I think. She never told us that we could earn our on money for the games! The bowling sounds fun..but Im fascinated that you guys were hustling poker games!!
DeleteHmm! I would describe our creative endeavors in a different manner.
DeleteAh, Joelle! Now this brings back memories. I spent my whole misspent youth in one bowling alley or another. In Brooklyn, where I grew up, that's where all the shady characters hung out.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your memories. One evening in the 10th grade, I wore green eye shadow on my lips to the bowling alley, thinking I looked really cute. Green lips? In retrospect, I could possibly have been described as a "shady character".
