SADIE HAWKINS DAY DANCE

At last, a chance to be assured of a date even though first choice wasn't always available.  Sadie Hawkins Day was originated in "L'il Abner", a comic strip by Al Capp.   Girls did the askin' as well as the payin'.

  1. Ah, that brings back memories! Sadie Hawkins events were pretty popular and well-attended when I was in high school in the late 70s.

    1. I didn't realize Sadie Hawkins events were popular as late as the 70s. In the 50s, they were more exciting than the prom.

  2. Great collage! I remember Sadie Hawkins Dances in high school where girls asked out the boys. There was a lot of competition and giggling among the girls to see which boys would get asked to the dance. Fun memories!

  3. I found that old photo and the memories came flooding back. It could probably be referred to as "early art" or "early party pic".
